A foul, at its most basic, is when a player makes a challenge in a manner that is not part of soccer or is not fair. We judge that with three different levels of fouls that have contact. Careless, Reckless and Excessive force.

Direct Free Kick Fouls

  • Charges

  • Jumps at

  • Kicks or Attempts to Kick

  • Pushes

  • Holds

  • Tackles or Challenges

  • Trips or attempts to trip

  • Handball

  • Impedes with contact 

  • Bites or spits at someone

  • Throws object at the ball, an opponent or Match Official

  • Strikes or Attempts to Strike (including Headbutt)
